They feature a lightweight frame design and carbon lay up which offers a fantastic blend of power transfer and comfort and has been aero-optimised to deliver race winning speed. This is combined with a geometry which encourages long days exploring without sitting up tall in the wind. The SLR 9.4 adds SRAM's new Rival eTap AXS 12 speed wireless shifting to Boardman's high-modulus C10 Carbon frameset, bringing outstanding shifting performance to a new, lower price point. SRAM's new Rival eTap AXS is the star of the show on the SLR 9.4. Using the same wireless shifting technology and 12 speeds as their pro-level Red groupset, gear changes are precise and consistent, all at the push of a button. With no shift cables to worry about, there's minimal maintenance to do, meaning shifting stays perfect all year round. Gear ratios are different to traditional road bikes because of the huge range offered by the 10-30t cassette. The 10t cog with smaller 46/33t chainrings gives a larger top gear and smaller bottom gear vs a compact 50/34t chainset. All this range comes with smaller jumps between gears too because of the extra 12th gear. With powerful hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors, stopping is easy in all weather conditions too. Battery life is around 60 hours of riding, and recharge time is only an hour. If you do forget to charge up, you can swap the batteries between the front and rear derailleurs to get you back home easily. Wheels and tyres make a huge difference to how a bike feels to ride, and Alexrims RXD3 wheels with Vittoria Rubino Pro 28mm tyres are another highlight on the 9.4. The wheels use 30mm deep rims with 19mm internal width to support the Graphene 2.0 infused tyres, offering an great blend of low weight, fast acceleration, grip and aerodynamic performance. The SLR frameset is optimised for aerodynamic performance without adding weight or compromising the ride quality. Wind-tunnel proven tube profiles minimise separation of airflow, resulting in lower aerodynamic drag. The SLR’s geometry strikes a balance between a long and low race position and an upright, endurance set up. The frame itself has been designed with comfort in mind to. Thin, dropped seat stays and a slim legged fork absorb road imperfections without compromising on the lateral stiffness required to corner quickly and confidently. The SLR focuses on efficiency. Using Boardman’s C10 carbon fibre blend, high-modulus fibres are used in key areas to increase the strength to weight ratio. Deep, box-section chainstays, an oversized bottom bracket and dropped seat stays combine in a compact, stiff rear triangle, maximising power transfer.
