The high-performance minimalism of the L1 Jersey is augmented with the introduction of real silver thread into the weft of its proprietary polyester microfilament fabric_ The original L1 Jersey fabric was a polyester microfilament (Unique Fabric L1) that immediately stood out for its slightly thicker and softer hand which, while in no way comprising breathability, was able to pull moisture away from the body far more efficiently than the paper-thin fabrics use in other true lightweight jerseys currently availble on the market, allowing the jersey to offer significantly greater protection to the body while riding long descents immediately after intense climbing. The introduction of a real silver thread into the weft of the fabric, forming a subtly visible "pinstriping" down the length of the jersey, may be understood as a further augmenting of the original raison detre of Q36.5s proprietary jersey fabric, in which the extraordinary natural properties of silver are carefully exploited in a performance wear context. In this case the silver threads greatest performance advantage is given not by its anti-bacterial or anti-static (as is the case, for example, in our Dottore bib shorts) qualities but by its high rate of conduction (silver, of all the elements on earth, has the highest rate of heat conduction). This means that Silver works actively to distribute the heat quickly and uniformly across its surface_ one needs only to think of the example of the silver spoon in a cup of tea_ the heat of the liquid is not transferred just to the part of the spoon in contact with the hot liquid but uniformly across its surface. Similarly, the addition of the silver thread in the weft of the jerseys fabric allows the bodys heat to be evenly dispersed across the entire surface of the jersey, minimizing isolated points of excessive body heat and facilitating a far more efficient subsequent transfer of the humidity away from the body.
