Sizing_ Please Size Up In the experience of the Fawkes Cycles team, the S-PHYRE XC9 (XC903) comes up small compared with riders' usual Shimano shoe size. The wraparound upper construction and racing-focused last fit closer to the foot than the brand's mid-tier and entry-level shoes, and most customers find they need to go up half a size, occasionally a full size, from their usual Shimano EU sizing. Riders who already wear an S-PHYRE shoe should stay with their current size. Riders moving up from the XC1, XC3, XC5 or XC7 are strongly encouraged to size up. Given the snug nature of the standard last, riders who run wide-fit shoes in their everyday footwear are particularly encouraged to consider the wide option. Dual BOA Li2 Closure for Race-Grade Precision Two low-profile BOA Li2 dials work independently to control tension across the forefoot and instep, allowing the rider to fine-tune fit in two distinct zones. Each dial offers two-way micro-adjustment in single-click increments, meaning tension can be added or released on the move without removing the foot from the pedal.
