Shimano B05S-RX Disc Brake Pads - Steel Backed Resin Brakes are the most important component on the bike. Not the flashiest, not the most expensive the most important. The Shimano B05S-RX is the genuine replacement pad for Shimano's hugely popular B-type two-piston calipers, and fitting anything less is selling the bike short. These are the pads the calipers were designed around, with a resin compound that delivers smooth, quiet, controlled braking and a steel backing plate that keeps everything rigid under load. Resin Compound - Control First Resin (organic) pads bite progressively rather than grabbing, which means more modulation at the lever and more confidence on loose surfaces and wet descents. They run quieter than sintered metal pads, are kinder to rotors, and reach full power quickly once bedded in. For trail riding, commuting and everything in between, resin is the compound Shimano specifies for these calipers and the B05S-RX is the reference pad. Direct Successor to B01S and B03S The B05S supersedes the B01S and B03S pads and is fully interchangeable with them. If the brakes currently run B01S, the B05S drops straight in same shape, same spring, updated compound.
