Product Description
Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip Double Down MTB TyreThe Assegai is Greg Minnaar's signature gravity tyre, built by combining proven elements from the Minion DHR II, High Roller and Shorty. Tall, well supported knobs cut through dust, loam and soft ground to find grip, while also delivering confidence on wet roots, rocks and hard surfaces. The result is a predictable, high traction tyre for aggressive trail, enduro and downhill riding where control and braking stability matter most.Key FeaturesSignature Greg Minnaar design for aggressive gravity ridingTall, supportive knobs for grip in loose and mixed terrainInspired by the Minion DHR II, High Roller and ShortyConfident braking and cornering on roots, rocks and hardpackFolding beadTubeless Ready constructionMaxxGrip compound for maximum tractionDouble Down casing for support and impact protectionWide Trail shaping optimised for 35 mm rimsMaxxGrip CompoundMaxxGrip uses the softest Maxxis rubber compounds to maximise traction and slow rebound. It provides the highest level of grip and control for downhill and enduro applications where precision and stability are essential.Double Down CasingDouble Down uses two 120 TPI casing layers reinforced with a butyl insert. This construction offers the support and protection of a downhill tyre in a lighter package, making it ideal for aggressive enduro and bike park riding.Wide Trail ConstructionWide Trail shaping optimises the tread profile on modern rims with 30 to 35 mm inner widths. This maintains the correct tyre shape for consistent cornering support and predictable handling at speed.Tubeless ReadyTubeless Ready construction allows lower pressures for more grip and comfort, reduced rolling resistance and fewer flats. Use only approved tubeless sealants to maintain performance and warranty coverage.
