The Enduro line of angular contact headsets begins with black oxide treated chrome steel rings, next level is full stainless steel 440C, and the highest range is, with a lifetime warranty, XD-15 aerospace stainless steel (races and balls).They are always designed with the largest possible balls, feature double lip seals mounted on a micro-groove, and are 90% filled with high pressure waterproof grease for maximum protection from sweat and the elements.Enduro´s angular contact (A/C) bearings are designed so that all balls are uniformly engaged to distribute force over a larger surface area, decreasing friction, minimizing wear, and maximizing lifespan.Enduro only uses 440C stainless steel balls and races to provide long life and superior corrosion resistance in applications and environments that may be less than ideal. 440C has the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all standard high-carbon 440 series stainless steel alloys. As expected, it is also the most expensive of the 440 series alloys and requires multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic treatment to achieve its superior mechanical properties.While stainless steel has 20% less load capacity and is slightly softer than our standard 52100 chrome steel used in most of our bearings, stainless steel is an excellent alternative for use in wet conditions, if you wash your bike frequently, or where there may be sweat.Enduro Bearings also uses LLB seals and CRC Marine Grease in these bearings to further weatherproof them against the elements
