Marin has developed the bike with input from riders including Matt Jones, Mark Matthews and Vinnie Moonen, with prototypes ridden at events such as Darkfest and Hardline.The Series 4 aluminium frame uses Marin's MultiTrac LT suspension system to deliver 180mm of rear wheel travel. The frame also features extensive protection for demanding riding, a Boost 148mm rear thru-axle and SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger.Adjustability is a key part of the Quake's design. Chainstay length and ride height can be changed to alter the bike's handling, giving riders scope to adapt the setup to different terrain and riding preferences. The frame is also compatible with both 27.5in and 29in wheels, opening up further setup options.As supplied, the Quake uses a mixed-wheel configuration, combining a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear. The larger front wheel helps maintain momentum and roll over rough terrain, while the smaller rear wheel can provide additional clearance and help the bike feel easier to move around on steep and technical trails.Up front, the RockShox BoXXer provides 200mm of travel. This dual-crown downhill fork uses a 20x110mm thru-axle and is designed to handle the repeated impacts and high loads associated with gravity riding.The rear suspension uses a RockShox Vivid Coil Ultimate DH shock with a custom tune. Coil suspension provides consistent spring characteristics throughout long descents, while Marin fits different spring rates according to frame size to better suit the likely rider weight range.SRAM GX DH provides a simple 1x7-speed drivetrain specifically suited to downhill riding. The compact 11-25T cassette keeps the gear ratios close together for gravity-focused riding, where a wide climbing range is less important. A 34T SRAM Descendant alloy chainset with short 165mm cranks completes the setup.Stopping power comes from SRAM Maven Silver four-piston hydraulic disc brakes. They're paired with 200mm HSC rotors front and rear, providing the braking control needed for managing speed on long, steep and technical descents.Marin's downhill-specific alloy rims have a 29mm internal width and are tubeless compatible. The 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheels are fitted with 2.5-inch Schwalbe Magic Mary Gravity Pro tyres, giving the Quake an appropriately aggressive setup for loose, steep and rough terrain.The front Magic Mary uses Schwalbe's Ultra Soft compound to prioritise grip and control, while the rear uses the slightly firmer Soft compound to balance traction with durability. Both use Schwalbe's Radial construction and Gravity Pro casing for demanding gravity riding.An 800mm-wide PNW Range handlebar with 38mm rise is paired with a short 35mm Marin direct-mount stem, creating a wide, gravity-focused cockpit. A Marin Short Nose saddle and fixed alloy seatpost complete the build.The Quake 29 is a specialised bike for riders whose focus is descending rather than pedalling long distances.
